Pair of Mississippi resorts get new owner

Resorts Casino Tunica and Ballys Casino Tunica have a new owner just weeks after going into foreclosure.  The Mississippi Gaming Commission have approved transfer of ownership to Foundation Gaming Group, which already calls the state home. "Our immediate focus will be to keep the property operations as is," said Les McMackin, Foundation Gaming chief of operations and marketing officier.

STB; CLASS I'S employment posts year-on year growth

Employment at U.S. Class I railroads was up by 3.87% for the mid-September to mid-October period compared to the same month in 2010 according to the Surface Transportation Board Employment in each category in the latest period also recorded growth versus year-ago levels according to the STB.

Last Steam Locomotive made for Union Pacific Railroads

An iconic steam locomotive will chug through Riverside County this week in a rare swing through California.  Union Pacific Railroad's No. 844 will make a stop in Indio on Thursday before heading to Bloomington near San Bernardino where it will be on display Friday.

Railroads move ahead with contract resolution with labor unions

Class I railroads on Tuesday moved forward in reaching a compromise with labor unions over contract settlement terms.  Temporary collective bargaining agreements with three unions having roughly 24,000 employees have been settled according to the railroads.  Negotiations between 30 railroads and light other unions continue.
